A 7-year-old's Reflection After Reading

This afternoon, K read "When I was Young in the Mountains" by Cynthia Rylant. When she was done reading the book, she came and found me and said, "Momma, I want to read you the last page." So she read:

When I was young in the mountains, I never wanted to go to the ocean, and I never wanted to go to the desert. I never wanted to go anywhere else in the world, for I was in the mountains. And that was always enough.

When K was done reading these two sentences aloud to me she said, "Momma, I think that's how I'll feel one day when I'm in Heaven."

Awww. How sweet....and profound! I love that book! Are you doing FIAR? I need to pull out and re-read all our beloved FIAR books with Emily.
