Christian Keyboarding ~ TOS Review

When I first learned I would receive Christian Keyboarding to review for the TOS Crew, I thought it was going to teach my children how to play the piano. Imagine my surprise when I went to the site to do some research to find it's a program to teach my children how to type. My daughter has already done some basic lessons and is well on her way to being a proficient typist. So, I decided to use this product on my 8-year-old son. I must be honest that he was NOT excited about learning how to type. I had tried the same online program with him that worked for my daughter and he did not like it. It frustrated him and turned him off of typing for a while. But, he obeyed, sat down at the computer and we began our lesson. He did well, and was even excited to tell his Dad about his lesson.

My initial reaction to this program was negative (maybe I was still trying to get over the fact that this program would not teach my children how to play an instrument). I thought it was boring, dull, and slow. The first lesson taught him about home row (you know where your fingers rest while typing?). Then he typed fff jjj fff jjj and so on. Boring to ME, but it WORKED for my son! I think educators everywhere struggle with ONLY teaching to OUR personal learning style. We have to remember other children, and even our own children may not learn the same way we do.

So I am thankful I gave it a try with my son because it is straight-forward, no fluff, no flashy graphics, no annoying music, and it is just a basic get-to-the-point typing program. It fits my son's personality and learning style perfectly!
