See the Light

See the Light helps you bring an art teacher inside your home through their wonderful DVD art lessons. Our family received DVD #1 from the Art Class series to review and you can actually receive this same DVD for free right now over at See the Light's website! You see, the folks at See the Light know once you have experienced the first DVD, you won't be able to resist buying their entire set of 9 DVDs that include a total of 36 art lessons for your children. I know I am trying to figure out a way to squeeze this wonderful resource into our homeschool budget for next school year! It really is THAT good! You should probably hurry though because I don't know how long this offer is going to last!

Here are some of the things we learned from volume 1 of this Art Class DVD:
Lesson #1 - This lesson is all about the tools of the trade and how to get your "toolkit" ready. But have no fear, these tools will be easy on your budget. The supplies needed for this volume are things like paper, pencils, markers, and erasers. Oh yeah! You'll also need some apples, pears, and shoes around as objects to draw throughout your lessons.
Lesson #2 - In this lesson you and your children will learn about the most fundamental element of drawing - the line!
Lesson #3 - In this lesson your eyes and hands will go through some training, and you'll learn tips on how to place objects while you're drawing to get the best results. This lesson is about contours and composition.
Lesson #4 - In this lesson you will use a shoe as the object of your contour drawing to test your abilities of only drawing what you see and not what you know.

This 9 disc set is priced at $99.99. Each lesson costs less than $3.00. I don't know about you, but I've checked art lesson prices and the cheapest I've found is $10.00/hour and that was considered CHEAP. If you think $99.99 is too high, then maybe you could talk to some friends and go in together and start your own co-op art class!
