There is no denying that God created some pretty strange things and some of those strange things include zombie fire ants, blue diamonds, MRSA, dung beetles, puffer fish, red tides, blue-footed boobies, cicada killing wasps, and quicksand. Do you have curious children? If yes (and I believe all children are naturally curious), then The Curiosity Files are for you! Your family will join Professor Ana Lyze and explore all the strange things listed above together in fun, silly, and educational Unit Studies from The Old Schoolhouse Store.
As a member of the TOS Crew, I was given the opportunity to choose which Curiosity File I would like to download and and use with my children. I allowed my 9-year-old son to choose, and I was just SURE he'd choose to learn about dung beetles, but he chose to study about zombie fire ants instead.
It has been a while since the children and I had done a unit study, and I have to say it was just the fun mid-year break from the "norm" we needed! We gathered around the computer and read all about zombie fire ants, and laughed together and got totally grossed out together too. We had fun exploring geography, math, and even doing a little writing, and copywork together.
These are the broad range of topics covered in each Curiosity File which makes them more than just a fun science lesson about ants, and expands the learning in order to become a true unit study.

I am happy we had the opportunity to review this unit study. I needed to be reminded of the great fun unit studies can be and I plan to do more. Maybe you've never done a unit study, and if not, I recommend The Curiosity Files. This might just be the perfect way to get over the mid-year hump and through the wintertime blues! The Curiosity Files will add some fun to your family's learning!
