Messy Cook

I am a messy cook. I learned how to be a messy cook by watching my Momma cook. Last week I cooked a family favorite - a true comfort food - chicken and dumplings. Back home in Southern MO, we call these rolled dumplings. My friends in PA tell me these are not dumplings, these are noodles. I will still call them dumplings because this is what my grandmother and mother called them. This is one meal that my children squeal with delight when they find out I am making it for supper. Their squeals make me smile and cause me to remember when my Momma made chicken and dumplings for our family. It is fun to make a meal for your family that you remember your mother making for you. I am thankful for memories, I am thankful I am able to cook - even though I am messy.

I use this recipe as a guideline. It is available online, as you can see. But it is also in Deen's "The Lady and Sons Savanna Country Cookbook."

If that picture indicates the messy cook, then I am a messy cook too. That sounds really good.
