Learning to Landscape

This is how our front entry to our home looked when we moved in at the end of January. In April we pulled up the mulch and laid down new weed barrier and added some rock. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased three pots for annuals. A dear lady from our church dug up some of her excess perennials and gave them to me and I was able to plant some here and in various places around the yard. This weekend I actually purchased the annuals and planted then in the planters. I think everything looks so much more warm and inviting! I really don't have any idea what I'm doing. I am just learning as I go. This yard has required a lot of work, and we are getting it back under control little by little!

This looks lovely! We have been tackling our garden this year for the first time in years. It's a hard thing to do with little kids but now ours are a little older we can get more done!

Looks much better! I enjoy landscaping. Years ago, we had a local landscaper come in and do a complimentary "landscape map" for us. We used it pretty loosely and did our own thing here-and-there. I still like adding new things each year, or moving things around. I need to add some color to my flowerbeds this year - right now it's all pretty green out there!
