Psalm 118:24

Psalm 118:24
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
(NIV emphasis mine)

I often joke with my children how I wish they would stop growing up so fast! Sometimes I look back and wish I could go back and fix some of the mistakes I've made as a parent. Sometimes I wish I could go back and savor every single moment of the hectic season of when all three of our children were 3 1/2 years-old and younger! If I would have known THEN how FAST time flies...I would have slowed down and enjoyed those moments MORE. I wouldn't have been so stressed out over silly things.

Now our children are 7, 6, and 4-years-old. I am striving to wake up every morning and rejoice, because it's one more day the LORD has made and given me to live for Him!

Rejoice and be glad in every single day the Lord gives you to spend with your children! Make every day matter for eternity! Teach your children about Jesus and His love for them!

Menu Planning Monday ~ June 22

This week I started using the "Weekly Menu Planner" form from my NEW 2009 Schoolhouse Planner! I love, love, love it!!!! Just wanted to share:) If you are a homeschool mom, please take a second and read the review I wrote on this great planner!

Okay...here's my menu for this week!

Monday: Grilled Shrimp and Veggies on skewers, and rice

Tuesday: Tacos with meat and beans

Wednesday: Grilled Chicken breasts, grilled zucchini, and potato packets

Thursday-Saturday the boys in our house are going to Cub Scout Camp! So, I'm not 100% sure what the girls and I will be eating. We'll probably go out to eat once, and do some cooking together too!

Sunday: I'm going to be gone all afternoon for a mission trip meeting. So, my husband will come home and cook some chicken strips and French Fries for the kids. They'll be happy:)

This is a picture of my son fishing last summer while camping with his grandma, step-grandpa, and uncle! He had so much fun! One year later, he still talks about this special trip like it was yesterday! My friend TeriLynne over at Thoughts and Ponderings tagged me in a fun little photo game. It's a lot of fun to see everyone's pictures. So, since I've been tagged, I get to tag five of my friends and try to get them to play along! I tag....

The Rules:

1) Go to your photo files…Select the 6th photo folder

2) Select the 6th photo in that folder

3) Post that photo along with the story behind it.

4) Then challenge 5 blog friends to do the same!

Our School Room

This is what our school room looks like right now. I have a whole list of things I want to do over the summer to get our space ready for a K/4 little girl, 1st grade little girl, and 2nd grade little boy! When our school year starts back up in the fall, I'll post some more pictures. We have a loft in this house that we use to store all our school supplies, and do most of our work. But, we can be found doing all sorts of learning all over our home:) Back in October, I posted a blog, "School All Around Our Home." My children were in one of their bedrooms playing a sight word matching game.

Review ~ 2009 Schoolhouse Planner

As a stay-at-home, homeschooling, homemaking Mom, I struggle with balancing all the tasks that need to be done daily. I make shopping lists, plan menus, run errands, cook, clean, and do laundry. Oh, I’ll stop, I think you get the picture!!!!! A lot of my time is spent preparing lessons and projects to teach the children at their various grade levels. So, you see, life around here is busy.

I have found a great planner to help with ALL areas of my life - The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner!. There are grocery lists to print off and use, menu planning forms, recipes, calendar pages, and many other items to help me manage my household. There are tons of resources to help me with lesson planning and teaching the children. Whether you have preschool or high school aged children…The Schoolhouse Planner has something for YOU!

This planner is going to help make our end of the year portfolio a lot easier! I am going to use several of the forms to help communicate our goals and objectives to enhance our portfolio. In Pennsylvania, you have to make a portfolio to submit to an evaluator for assessment at the close of each school year. The 2009-10 school year will be the first year I will be required by law to do this. So, after reviewing this planner, I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. I began to see how the forms and calendars are going to look nice and professional in the portfolio, and help me communicate concisely all of our goals, objectives, reading logs, field trips, art projects, etc... for our school year.

I just printed the “Books Read This Year” form for the children to use to track all the books they read for our summer reading program!

My FAVORITE form is titled, “Weekly Schedule – 3 Children.” They have weekly schedules made up that are designed for the size of YOUR family! Since the planner is in Adobe Acrobat form, I can type in the information in the weekly schedule, and print it out!

I am thankful for this planner. I know it will help me achieve more balance and organization for our family. I appreciate how it is not just a school planner, but it also helps in the management of our home. I only wish this planner came along with a personal assistant to give me a little (or BIG) push when I fall behind!

Click HERE and take a glimpse of all the planner has to offer! There is a breakdown of the table of contents, and a lot of great pictures to look at! Once you’re there, I’m sure you’ll want to purchase a copy for yourself at the wonderful price of $39.00. You don’t have to wait for anything to be shipped to you! Once you purchase the planner, it will be available for IMMEDIATE download on your computer! If I still haven't convinced you this is one AWESOME planner, then go to this BLOG and read more reviews.

*I have been given the opportunity to join the TOS Crew and write reviews for various homeschool products!* Please come back soon to check out more homeschool product reviews.

Knights and Castles

The last unit in our curriculum this year covered the topic of knights and castles. The children enjoyed building a model of a castle from old boxes and toilet paper tubes. They also enjoyed drawing pictures of castles, and designing their own coat of arms! We read about knights and castles in the Usborne Time Traveller, Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest by Ann McGovern, and The Minstrel in the Tower by Gloria Skurzynski.

TOS Homeschool Crew

I have been selected to be a part of a crew of homeschool parents to receive various homeschool products and review them here on my blog! I am so excited! I think it's fun to try new things and see how they work for my children!

So, stay tuned...I am waiting to receive my first assignment!

For now, head over and visit the Crew's Blog to read reviews that have already been posted by last year's crew members.

Lemonade Award

A sweet friend of mine gave me the Lemonade Award. It's an award given to people who exhibit an attitude of gratitude in their lives and on their blogs.

Here are the rules for this award:

1.Put the logo on your blog or post
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs that show an attitude of gratitude
3. Link to your nominees within your post
4. Comment on their blogs to let them know they've received this award
5. Share the love and link to this post and the person who nominated you for the award
6. Tell us how you've come to have an attitude of gratitude

So, I now pass along the Lemonade Award to the following bloggers: I'm listing mine in alphabetical order.

How Have I come to an attitude of gratitude? Have you ever read the book of James? Well, that book pretty much sumes up HOW I have come to continually strive to have an attitude of gratitude, and to "count it all joy"  (Js. 1:2).

Thank you, my sweet friend for the encouragment and this award. Let's keep on "counting it all joy!"
