Growing Healthy Homes ~ TOS Review

As a member of the TOS Crew, I was given the opportunity to receive a complete curriculum from Growing Healthy Families called Nutrition 101: Choose Life! Everyone on the crew received the 448 page e-book in PDF format, but, a print version is available on their website.

This is a Biblically based health curriculum. It is also wonderful resource that you will refer back to time and time again. This curriculum will teach your ENTIRE family how to eat for optimum health, and explain why it is important to choose healthy food.

The curriculum is divided into six units:
1) The Brain and Nervous System
2) Digestion and Elimination
3) Respiratory and Olfactory
4) Muscular and Skeletal Systems
5) Cardiovascular and Immune Systems
6) Endocrine System and Emotions

Our family has made it through the first two units, and we have enjoyed many of the age-appropriate hands-on activities provided in each lesson. We have enjoyed making food collages, pyramids, testing our reflexes, and other fun activities! My children are young (1st and 2nd grade). Most of the "text book" portion of the curriculum was over their heads. So, we headed to the library and checked out all kinds of books on the human body and how to live healthy lives. We have enjoyed going shopping for healthy foods, and all the ingredients for the recipes found in the curriculum. Even though some portions of this curriculum is above their grade-level, I feel fortunate to have this curriculum to use as a resource for our family's health and wellness. I know we will pull out this curriculum again in a few years and go through everything again.

My four-year-old daughter often includes this in her bedtime prayer: "Lord, thank you that we have healthy food, and not yucky food." God has created wonderful food to make our bodies healthy and strong for our service for Him. This resource will help you and your family as you strive to live healthier lives for His glory.

Please take the time to go to the Growing Healthy Homes website and look around. There is a wonderful video to watch on their homepage that shares more personal experiences about the Nutrition 101 curriculum.

Nutrition 101 is available in CD-Rom ($79.95), print version ($99.95), or a combo version ($129.95).
