2011 Home Education Goal

Yesterday I did a Google search for "bad attitude homeschool" and stumbled across THIS lovely, encouraging article, entitled "Homeschool Boot Camp: Dealing with Attitudes! by Tamara Eaton. This article truly helped me put things in an eternal perspective around here, and the children and I had a little meeting around the table at lunch time and we decided to make 1 Corinthians 10:31 our goal this new year in our home. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the article, but PLEASE take the time to click over and read the entire thing:

Make sure your expectations are reasonable. Don't be overly critical, remember that children are not miniature adults. (And after all, even adults aren't perfect!)

Have we become so exasperated that we've fallen into the trap of being harsh, unkind, angry, provoking to wrath? Or are we calmly, kindly, lovingly teaching and training our children to obey us in all things because this is the way God has ordained? Oh that we would all seek Him for wisdom in bringing up our children in the ways of the Lord.
This year we are tackling ATTITUDES around here when it comes to education. Our goal is to "do it all for the glory of God." When we have a bad attitude, complain, and argue it does not glorify God.

"...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

May our thoughts, attitudes, and actions glorify the Lord this year.

Have you made any home education goals this new year?

Nikki,
Sounds like a great goal! I'm glad to hear that we are not the only family that sometimes needs "attitude adjustments"!
