Weekly Wrap Up - Filled with Randomness

T had his first flag football game on Sunday. I don't think anyone knew what they were doing 100% of the time, but they sure had fun, and they were fun to watch!

On Tuesday we took the day off from all formal school work and went to a local orchard to get a bushel of apples, and then we spent the rest of the day making and canning applesauce. They had a small maze made out of hay bales, so the children had some fun playing around before we headed home to get to work.

All three of the children took turns peeling the apples, and they of course all helped taste test the applesauce .

Tuesday is our art lesson day. Since we were busy with all the apples, I decided we would participate in Harmony Art Mom's Sketch Tuesday this week. So, we'll share our drawings on Tuesday, and share with you a link so you can see the slideshow that Barb puts together each week. We do a lot of reading a loud for fun, and for many subjects, so I will often take a look at the weekly sketch assignment and have the children sketch quietly while I read. They really enjoy watching the slideshow and waiting for their work to appear!

We stepped back from the yellow book this week and spent some time simply reviewing word families. It was a nice change of pace, and we had fun using our letter cards to form different words.
Overall, this was a fairly relaxed week, and I planned it that way. I knew we'd be spending one day canning, and I also knew my husband would be out of town a couple of nights. We have spent the week studying the Incas, reptiles, and of course carrying on with the children's silent reading books, and our family's read a loud book.

This is what we do when Daddy's away - we drag a mattress into the living room and have a party! This Momma is so tired though, but it's worth it to make sweet memories with my children!

How about you? How was your week? If you'd like to read more weekly wrap-ups or to share your own, head over to Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers.

I want to do school on a mattress too! How clever. I love that you are canning with your kids. I often think it's a dying skill. Looks like a great week.

I'm glad you all enjoyed your relaxed week. And thanks for the tip about Barb's sketch Tuesday! I'd not heard of it before. I like the idea of the children sketching while Mama reads aloud.
