Knights and Castles

The last unit in our curriculum this year covered the topic of knights and castles. The children enjoyed building a model of a castle from old boxes and toilet paper tubes. They also enjoyed drawing pictures of castles, and designing their own coat of arms! We read about knights and castles in the Usborne Time Traveller, Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest by Ann McGovern, and The Minstrel in the Tower by Gloria Skurzynski.

I've been wondering about a Robin Hood book for my oldest who is in 3rd grade this year, but have never actually read Robin Hood. Do you know is there an actual original classic version of this story?...I assume there is. Did you read the version you had as a read aloud? What's a good age range?

Shanna, yes we read the version as a read aloud. I read it aloud to my 1st grader, kindergartener, and my 4yo (when she wanted to be still and listen). She's getting better.
