A Little Ocean Getaway

A friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to the beach with her for a couple nights. I thought it would be fun, but I didn't know if the timing was good since it would cause me to miss a couple days of the second week of our new school year. My husband encouraged me to go and we worked out some plans. He could work from home and keep the kids on task with their chores and their independent school work, and he also kept on top of our current read aloud book.

I really enjoyed my time away with friends and this was my first time visiting Ocean City, MD. We also drove just a few miles and visited Assateague Island one day, and we even got to see some ponies. This was such a treat for me because I LOVE Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry!

Do you ever take the time to get away? It is hard for me because I have a difficult time surrendering control. I don't know why because my husband is so encouraging and actually does a better job managing household tasks and homeschooling than I do. I'm glad I said "yes" to my friend and went away these two days.

Glad you got away! I think the beach is extra fun for those of us who grew up in the Midwest and didn't go every summer!
